Isaiah 30:16

But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

In its setting in Isaiah 30:8-16 the verse rebukes church members who have great light yet disregard it, indulging fleshly appetites and eating food injurious to soul and body, including meat eating and other harmful diet, while retaining Sodom-like impurity. It shows truth held but not obeyed, perverted and held in unrighteousness, so that the service offered to God becomes tame, lifeless and Christless, dishonoring God and putting Christ to open shame. Those who have great light are worse off than those without such advantages, and punishment will in every case be proportionate to the dishonor brought upon God. Not one particle of Sodom-like impurity will escape the wrath of God at the execution of the judgment.

Those who do not repent of and forsake all uncleanness will fall with the wicked. Deliverance requires fasting and praying and overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony. Deliverance requires putting away sensuality that corrupts the whole person. Only saints, not sinners, will become members of the royal family and form God's kingdom in the earth made new.
