Isaiah 30:22

Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.

The chapter condemns spiritual unfaithfulness, treating the forsaking of God to seek help from Egypt as rebellion. Israel in this group of prophecies serves as a type of conditions in the Christian age. The verse teaches that God's people will reject idolatry, regarding the silver coverings of graven images and the gold ornaments of molten images as defiled refuse and casting them away.

That rejection happens when God is revealed to people, casting away and telling them to depart expressing how detestable the things that once drew them away and are offensive to God become in a normal Christian experience. The prophecy belongs to a fulfillment especially associated with the latter days, when Christ's kingdom is about to replace the reign of sin on earth.

The chapter describes the literal coming of Jehovah to judgment joined to millennial events, with Jehovah causing His glorious voice to be heard and showing the lighting down of His arm with indignation of anger and flame of devouring fire with scattering and tempest and hailstones. He comes down to fight for Jerusalem and its hill as a young lion roaring on his prey, and defends and delivers and preserves Jerusalem as flying birds and by passing over, and eyes see the King in His beauty, which is the premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus. The same lesson applies to churches seeking union with civil power, because God demands their full loyalty and will not share His glory.
