Isaiah 30:30

And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

In its historical setting the verse portrays the Lord making His glorious voice heard in judgment on Assyria, the oppressive power that had struck others with oppression. The lighting down of His arm with the indignation of anger, and with flame of devouring fire, scattering, tempest, and hailstones, pictures a forceful and destructive display of divine power in judgment, with anger, devouring fire, storm, and hail. This display is God's intervention to deliver His people in their hour of utmost danger, when they face imminent destruction and their enemies are preparing to destroy them.

Its context joins the oppressor's defeat with a song of joy and deliverance, as those who have kept the truth rejoice and sing on entering God's city. The passage is applied to the final judgment of nations, when proud nations that oppose God will be brought down. In that final deliverance God's glorious voice is heard amid the shaking of the earth and the terror of the wicked, and the righteous recognize it as the announcement that they are delivered.
