Isaiah 30:5
They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach. They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.
Isaiah 30:5 is fulfilled when unconverted men holding responsible places as teachers and counselors at the very heart of God's work act out its principles. They take up the truth without being converted in heart and soul, retaining their old hereditary and cultivated traits of character. Mingling their own spirit with their words and actions, they pervert principle. They band together in confederacy to do what God has expressly forbidden. Their eyes are greatly blinded so that they do not see.
By this course they greatly weaken the Lord's work and bring dishonor upon truth of heavenly origin. Through them justice and mercy and love for God and for man fall in the streets, and equity cannot enter. They end in shame, for such counsels and alliances cannot profit or help, but prove only a shame and a reproach. Despite this failure, God will still have a remnant people who are purified and made white and tried.
