Isaiah 30:6

The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.

Isaiah 30:1-15 is a rebuke aimed at men in responsible positions at the very center of the work. It addresses those who have received great light yet do not have truth in heart and soul. It exposes their lack of conversion to the practical living out of that truth. The warning belongs to leaders who stand where counsel and direction are given.

Those reproved cling to old hereditary and cultivated traits of character while occupying places as counselors and wise men. They mingle their own spirit with their words and actions and thereby pervert principle. They combine together to do what God has expressly forbidden and walk contrary to God. In doing so they insult Him and abuse His honor and misrepresent Him though they are called by His name, until justice and mercy and love for God and man fall in the streets and equity cannot enter. The word of the Lord in the chapter will be fulfilled to all who claim to be teachers yet act out its principles. Their eyes become greatly blinded so that they cannot see. By that course they weaken the work of the Lord and dishonor truth of heavenly origin.
