Isaiah 30:7

For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

Isaiah 30:1-15 is a rebuke aimed at responsible men at the heart of the work who claim to be teachers and counsellors while unconverted in heart and soul. They take up the truth yet retain old hereditary and cultivated traits of character, mingling their own spirit with their words and actions and perverting principle. They confederate together to do what God has expressly forbidden, until justice and mercy and love for God and for man fall in the streets and equity cannot enter.

The word of the Lord in this chapter will be fulfilled to all such teachers who act out its principles, their eyes greatly blinded so they cannot see, weakening the work of God and dishonoring truth of heavenly origin. God will still have a remnant people who will be purified and made white and tried. Their teachers will no longer be removed into a corner or hidden, but will be seen with the eyes and heard saying, this is the way, walk ye in it. Strength described as sitting still means for those who know the truth that inactivity is not strength. It calls them instead to earnest work, to sow the message widely and to move to another place when opposition blocks the way.
