Isaiah 32:14
Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks; Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;
The palaces left forsaken and the populous city left empty picture inhabited places abandoned of people. The forts and towers made dens forever picture strongholds given over to wild creatures. Their becoming a joy of wild asses and a pasture of flocks pictures former defenses overgrown and grazed by animals. Such deserted and overgrown desolation is judgment upon the land.
The prophecy was spoken concerning Israel yet also portrays conditions in the Christian age. It stands in a portion of Isaiah that looks especially toward the last days. That portion concerns God's judgments upon the earth.
