Isaiah 33:13

Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.

The summons embraces all people in two groups, those far off bidden to hear what has been done and those near bidden to acknowledge might. What has been done makes power known, so the deeds themselves are a revelation of might to everyone far and near. That power is not dormant but active, and the works demand recognition. The summons opens directly upon the trembling of sinners and the assurance that the upright may dwell safely with God.

For those in responsible positions the same summons is a charge to give timely spiritual nourishment and present truth, especially for those preparing writings for wide circulation. It requires guarding against unsuitable material for this time and working as in full view of the whole universe of heaven under the observation of all heaven. The charge is urgent because decisive issues must soon be met, leaving no time to lose. Heeding it means without delay seeking refuge hidden in the cleft of the rock, beholding Jesus, and being made alive by His Holy Spirit.
