Isaiah 33:2

O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

The verse stands within the section spanning Isaiah 31-35, which follows chapters 28-31 warning against putting trust in men and exposing human frailty. That frailty is seen in Hezekiah failing to give God glory for his healing and displaying his earthly riches to the Babylonian ambassadors who afterward despoiled the kingdom. It belongs to the first part of Isaiah, which contains prophecies looking toward the last days and God's judgments upon the earth. It belongs among prophecies concerning Israel, with Israel serving as a type of conditions in the Christian age.

In Isaiah 33 the portrayals of the Lord's coming and judgment are interwoven with millennial details, and for that reason those portrayals are not to be read literally. The verse itself is a prayer of those waiting on the Lord for favor, asking for His strength every morning and His deliverance in time of trouble. It is held out as comfort to believers enduring fiery trial.
