Isaiah 36:18
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? Rabshakeh warned the people of Jerusalem not to let Hezekiah persuade them to trust that the Lord would deliver them. He pointed to Assyria's victories over other lands and argued that since none of the gods of those conquered nations had delivered their lands from the king of Assyria, the Lord could not deliver Jerusalem either. By that comparison he placed the Lord on the same level as the powerless gods of the nations, directly challenging God's ability to save His people.
