Isaiah 37:11
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered? Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered? is the Assyrian king's boast that Assyria had utterly destroyed all other lands, joined to his challenge that Judah would not be delivered from the same fate. The threat was aimed at Hezekiah's trust in God. Hezekiah answered it by bringing the letter before God and praying for deliverance. God answered by defending Jerusalem and destroying the Assyrian army, the destruction being carried out by an angel striking down the army. That overnight destruction killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night.
