Isaiah 38:13
I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me. I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
The verse belongs to Hezekiah's written record and testimony of his grave, mortal sickness, made when all other hope had fled and his life was afterward spared. In it he expresses anguish, fear, and expectation of imminent death amid severe suffering, imagining his life cut short while he was near death. He expected that God would break all his bones as a lion does and bring his life to an end within a single day, before the day was over and before day turned to night.
The larger account shows that the living God, the upholder of all created things and supreme sovereign, by favor spared his life. His recovery followed prayer and God's answer together with applying a fig to the affected part, showing that using a simple remedy is consistent with faith.
That mercy in sparing him gave him an opportunity to extol God before seekers after truth from Babylon. They were from the plains of Chaldea who came with the ruler's messengers, and the testimony was to be used to lead them to acknowledge the supreme sovereignty of the living God. Telling it might have brought momentous transformations.
