Isaiah 4:2
In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
The Branch of the Lord is Christ, the Messiah, revealed as beautiful and glorious when He redeems and delivers His people. In that day comes after judgment and deliverance, at the close of the investigative judgment before the second advent, when His intercession against the accuser secures forgiveness for them. It belongs to the hope of restoration and the Messiah's coming.
The forgiveness is a complete blotting out of sin: iniquity is forgiven and remembered no more, sought for and not found. Penitent believers are clothed in His righteousness and presented spotless to the Father. The escaped of Israel are the remnant left in Zion and remaining in Jerusalem, every one written among the living and kept enrolled in the book of life as counted worthy. They are called holy after the filth is washed away and the bloodshed is purged by judgment and burning.
The fruit of the earth being excellent and comely for them means the land's produce will be abundant and good for the survivors. The remnant themselves are also made excellent and comely in God's sight, sharing in His glory with joy and honor in His presence after their sorrow, tears and humiliation. Over Mount Zion and her assemblies a cloud with smoke by day and flaming fire by night is created for defense, and a covering for shade, refuge and shelter from heat, storm and rain.
Being made beautiful and glorious within means the church as the bride of the King understands her exalted position and keeps herself pure, sanctified and holy, with no foolishness. She submits to be molded like clay into vessels of honor, qualified to stand in her place. By unselfish lives she gives the world an example of practical Christianity that leaves it without excuse.
