Isaiah 43:6
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
The One who commands the north and the south is Jesus Christ, the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, Saviour, Creator, King, and great I AM, whom Isaiah saw, and His words express eternal presence to whom past, present, and future are alike clear. The verse stands in Isaiah 41-45, where God's purpose for His people is very fully revealed, and those chapters should be prayerfully studied. He commands the north to give up and the south to keep not back, to bring His sons from far, including from the east and the west, and His daughters from the ends of the earth — everyone called by His name, whom He created, formed, and made for His glory — gathering His people home from distant places in every direction.
The verse belongs to prophecies of the deliverance and restoration of God's people that will surely be fulfilled. The gathering of His scattered people from distant places is to occur in the last days when He shows grace to His chosen amid the setting aside of His law. The chapter's promises comfort true believers with God's care and purpose to gather them, assuring them amid divine judgments that the Lord will fulfill what He has promised and giving encouragement in the latter days. The verse speaks directly to the afflicted believer as God's assurance that she is redeemed, called by name, His own, precious and honorable in His sight, and kept by His presence through waters, rivers, and fire without being overwhelmed or burned.
The verse teaches God's people not to turn from His wisdom to finite man for wisdom but to trust the Lord and the wisdom of the Infinite alone, because He has redeemed them and blotted out their transgressions, and the chapter is commended for reading on this trust. The chapters including this verse plainly foretell the work of presenting the warning message to the world, which includes giving people information about the truth through camp meetings. God's gathering work described here is connected with each person faithfully cultivating the entrusted field, using God-given abilities well, and extending the work into new fields.
