Isaiah 46:5

To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?

The verse belongs to the section of Isaiah beginning with chapter 40, which has comparatively less local historical coloring and points forward to the sufferings of Christ and the glory of his reign. It asks to whom God can be likened and made equal and compared, that they may be like, declaring that none is like him and he has no equal among beings and things. He alone is God as Creator, Redeemer, and Saviour, eternal and unchanging, the source of all life and power who created all things by his word. His uniqueness and deity are proved by his ability to declare the end from the beginning and foretell what has not yet happened, and to bring his purpose to pass.

The contrast presented in the chapter testifies to him as incomparable. The verse shows the vast difference between his view and humanity's: as Creator he has perfect knowledge of all things, while human understanding is limited. Even a lifetime of learning is insignificant beside his knowledge and wisdom, so people cannot see matters as he sees them and may naturally differ from his mind. He also brings near righteousness and salvation.
