The Daughter of Babylon Grinds Grain in the Dustby emmanuel_higgins

Isaiah 47:1

Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.

Babylon is brought down from royal power and humbled to the dust. The once-ruling city is made to sit on the bare earth, with no throne left to her. She who ruled as a queen is stripped of her throne. She loses her former standing as mistress over kingdoms and will no longer be regarded as soft and pampered. Her overthrow is a sentence of divine retribution upon her oppressive and grasping rule.
