Isaiah 47:5

Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

Isaiah 47:5 is a sentence of divine judgment that takes the kingdom away from Babylon. The Chaldean empire is brought down from its rule under that sentence, losing its dominion by the judgment of God. The proud Chaldean ruler is brought down from power and no longer sits on a throne. Babylon is reduced to silence and plunged into darkness. Babylon loses its honored standing as mistress and leader among kingdoms, no longer called the mistress of kingdoms nor holding its place as the leading kingdom. This sentence applies to Babylon's last ruler just as it did to its first, whose kingdom was taken away by divine judgment.
