Isaiah 56:11
Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
The verse describes religious shepherds who lack understanding, who are never satisfied, and who pursue their own way for their own gain instead of faithfully guiding God's people. It applies this picture to responsible leaders in religious institutions who disregard God's commandments and lead people in wrong paths. It warns leaders in God's cause and institutions against neglecting reproof and failing in their duty to warn people of the truth. It calls them to receive the light given them and to make a thorough consecration to God.
It teaches that spiritual leaders and professed believers must awaken from spiritual dullness and share with others the light God has given them. It applies to present experience as a warning that time is passing rapidly and many have little understanding of what needs to be done in right lines. Together with the messages of Isaiah 55, Isaiah 56, and Isaiah 58, it calls God's people to arouse themselves to give the final warning to save a perishing world. Among those passages in Isaiah 55-58, it foretells the work of presenting a warning message that shows people how they have departed from the Lord's ordinances by adopting worldly policies and principles and have thereby transgressed His law.
