Isaiah 57:6

Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?

Isaiah 55 through 58 together form one field to be diligently studied, both to arouse pastors and people from spiritual stupidity and as comfort and encouragement. Within that field this verse holds open a door to enter and meet with God, by seeking Him earnestly with the promise that He will be found. It calls for the meekness shown in Christ's life and character, for humbling the heart before God and standing in right relation to Him.

It calls those in the cities who profess present truth to wake up and give to others what the Lord has given them. It calls those who have not yet come to the help of the Lord to arise and shine because their light has come. In giving to others the precious light of the gospel message they will see the glory of God, going forth with full assurance that angels will make impressions on the minds of those for whom they labor.

The verse foretells the great and solemn work of presenting the warning message to the world and giving people the reason for this faith. That work is done through camp meetings that give the information the world desires. It is done through sanitariums established in different parts of the world that educate and reform people and restore the moral image of God through knowledge of the Word bringing conversion. It is done through arousing slumbering senses to see departure from the Lord's ordinances by adopting worldly policy and conforming to worldly principles in transgression against the law of God.
