Isaiah 57:9

And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.

Isaiah 57:9 stands in a chapter that holds great meaning for God's people and is full of precious instruction. The chapter teaches that being rich in worldly wealth does not increase a person's value in God's sight, while He acknowledges and honors those who are meek and contrite. It reveals God as the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity and whose name is Holy, dwelling in the high and holy place with him who is of humble and contrite spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and the heart of the contrite.

The chapter foretells the present work of presenting the warning message to the world and giving people the reason for this faith. That work includes camp meetings that supply the information people desire. That work includes sanitariums in different parts of the world that educate people, reform them, and restore the moral image of God in them. That work includes conversion through knowledge of the Word that leads converts to use their means and ability to spread the truth. That work includes arousing slumbering senses to see departure from the Lord's ordinances by adopting worldly policy and conforming to worldly principles, which is transgression against the law of God. The chapter should be studied carefully and prayerfully to become wise unto salvation and to learn its lesson.
