Isaiah 60:14

The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

The verse promises a complete reversal of Zion's humiliation, in which the sons of those who afflicted her will come bending humbly toward her, and all who despised her will bow themselves down at the soles of her feet and acknowledge her as the city belonging to the Lord and as the Zion of the Holy One of Israel. Connected with that humbling of her former despisers, the city once forsaken and hated will be made an enduring glory and excellency and a joy for many generations. This restoration belongs to Christ's work of saving people held under Satan's power and setting God's vineyard right.

The promised change is brought about through the work of workers in the churches. That work is earnest labor for the salvation of those who do not know the truth and have no interest in it, by showing interest in them, enduring abuse without annoyance or retaliation, and continuing to speak of Jesus, so that even the bitterest opposers are converted and united with God's people. The restoration advances through missionary work to build up communities by varied agencies and varied talents, with true education in every church and a clear trumpet sound proclaiming the gospel message for this time, including sharp strong messages alongside comforting ones, carrying the third angel's message and uplifting the banner of truth, in which there is converting power because the law of the Lord converts the soul.

The chapter containing the verse is a message to leaders in the cause and those connected with institutions, to be studied, heeded, and accepted with faith and thorough consecration to God. That acceptance includes receiving reproof and fulfilling the neglected duty to warn the unwarned of what is truth and to give reasons for faith. When its words are received and all complaining and every evil work are stopped, chapters sixty and sixty-one will be understood and the Lord will manifest power in the conviction and conversion of souls.
