Isaiah 60:17
For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.
The verse describes the city of God after victory and after the reception of the inheritance. It belongs to Isaiah's description of Christ's work to set things right and to carry out God's purposes in saving people who are under Satan's power. It promises abundance and improvement in which more precious materials replace lesser ones, gold in place of brass, silver in place of iron, brass in place of wood, and iron in place of stones. It promises also that leaders and officers will be characterized by peace and that those who exact tribute or service will be characterized by righteousness.
It promises restoration carried forward in divine lines through missionary work that builds up human habitations by diversity of instrumentalities and by diversity of talent in the church. This restoration comes with a true line of education in all points and with a certain trumpet sound proclaiming the gospel message for this time through the ministry of the Word, while truth takes hold of heart and character to beautify and elevate and ennoble individuality while preserving variety as branches of the true vine. It joins sharp strong messages with sons of consolation, and it includes the third angel's message with the banner of truth uplifted, because conversion is in it, for the law of the Lord is perfect in converting the soul.
As part of the message of Isaiah chapters 60 through 65, it is to be studied, heeded and accepted by leaders in the cause and by those connected with institutions. It brings reproof for disregard of the reproofs God has given, for accepting only the word they choose, for lack of thorough consecration to God, and for neglected duty to warn the people what truth is. When received, chapters 60 and 61 will be understood and chapters 62 through 65 will speak in a most decided manner. When the words are taken and all complaining and every evil work are stopped, the Lord manifests His power in the conviction and conversion of souls.
