Isaiah 60:19
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
The sun will be no more the light by day, nor will the moon give brightness for light, because the Lord Himself will be an everlasting light to His people and God will be their glory. This is the life of the redeemed in the city of God after victory and the gaining of the inheritance, freed from sin and every mark of the curse, with mourning ended and all righteous. It is the desired condition of peace, righteousness, salvation and praise, with no more violence, wasting or destruction.
It is the future kingdom of God when the world will be filled with heaven's light and nature will praise God, where the moon and sun will still give light but the Lord will be the everlasting light and glory of His people, and the sun's light will be seven times brighter than now. Over the wide, extended plains of the promised land there shines one eternal day because Christ reigns forever there as the sun and scatters night away. The verse is part of a section of Isaiah that defines Christ's work of setting things right and saving the people under Satan's power. Together with Isaiah 59 it belongs to the certain gospel message for this time, carrying the third angel's message and the converting power of the perfect law of the Lord. The Lord is the everlasting light of those who trust in Him now, supplying the spiritual life and nourishment they need to grow just as sunlight sustains plants.
Isaiah 60 including this verse must be heeded, accepted, taken and understood with thorough consecration to God, repentance and conversion, and the putting away of all complaining and every evil work, and its meaning becomes clear when reformation comes to the people of God. This call applies especially to leaders in the cause and those connected with institutions, who must receive great light with faith, follow on to know the Lord, and fulfill the neglected duty to warn unwarned souls of the reasons of faith and what is truth. When so taken, Isaiah 60 and 61 are understood and Isaiah 62 to 65 speak in a most decided manner, and the Lord appears in power for the conviction and conversion of souls. The promised condition is brought about by a great work of reformation in which believers labor together with God to preach good tidings to the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to captives, comfort mourners, and seek and save the lost, following Christ's example in leaving heaven, living humbly, dying on Calvary, rising from the dead and still working for salvation, a work requiring personal sacrifice.
