Isaiah 60:21

The promise looks to the future life after victory, when God's people receive their inheritance in the restored city of God and in the renewed land. It is the time when the former things have passed away and there is no more death, no sorrow, no crying, and no pain. There all of God's people will be righteous. That righteousness is restoration from sin and the curse. They will inherit and possess the land forever as an enduring inheritance.
They are the branch of His planting and the work of His hands, His own planting and handiwork. Their righteousness and lasting inheritance glorify Him. The promise belongs with the shining of God's glory upon His people to draw the nations to their light. The chapter containing it is a message to be heeded and accepted by leaders and those connected with institutions, along with chapter 65. Chapters 60 and 61 are understood together, and then chapters 62 to 65 speak in a most decided manner.
The chapter is taken by stopping all complaining and every evil work, and when so taken God manifests His power in the conviction and conversion of souls. It gives authority for giving the gospel message for this time with a certain sound through the ministry of the Word. It gives authority for truth taking hold of the heart to beautify and elevate character while preserving individuality. It gives authority for marked variety in nature and in the work of the church through diversity of talent and instrumentalities like branches of the true vine, and for missionary work in building up human habitations and restoration in divine lines. It gives authority for bearing sharp messages and consolation by carrying the third angel's message and uplifting the banner of truth, for conversion is in it because the perfect law converts the soul.
