Isaiah 61:9
And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed. And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.
The seed and offspring of the Lord's blessed people, including their descendants and children, will be known among the Gentiles and among the peoples, and all who see them will openly recognize, acknowledge and honor them as the seed whom the Lord has blessed. Their descendants will be recognized among the nations as blessed by God, and those who see them will acknowledge that blessing. The offspring of those who return to loyalty to God will be known among the Gentiles and other peoples as people blessed by the Lord.
This worldwide recognition is joined to God's everlasting covenant with them and His directing their work in truth. Those so recognized are called priests of the Lord and ministers of God, receiving double honor for shame and everlasting joy. Their acknowledgment is followed by rejoicing in salvation and righteousness, with righteousness and praise springing up before all nations. The blessed seed are those who build the old wastes, raise up the former desolations, and repair the waste cities. They are those who return to loyalty to God by keeping His commandments.
Their recognition comes through medical missionary work as the pioneer work of the gospel, with the gospel practiced and Christ's compassion revealed bringing release from suffering. Through that work new fields are entered, ministry stands after the Lord's order, the sick are healed, and poor suffering humanity is blessed. The promise applies to those who do the work Christ did on earth and act as God's helping hand and Christ's helping hand in freeing those who are bound. Through such willing servants God will do a wonderful work and be constantly glorified, giving them a rich experience full of His glory, and their faithful service will make the blessing evident to others. It is held out as what may be said of Christians whose lives are filled with goodness, love, and compassion, who serve as God's helping hands and are recognized among other peoples as the offspring the Lord has blessed.
The verse belongs to the promises that gave hope by showing that Christ's mission brought salvation and righteousness to the world. The chapter testifies to the work Christ was to do, agreeing with the life and ministry of Jesus as the lowly Galilean when read alongside the prophecies of His rejection and suffering. The chapter is among the chapters, together with Isaiah 60 and 62-65, that leaders and those serving in institutions are urged to study and heed. Receiving its words and turning from complaining and evil work is linked to the Lord manifesting His power to convict and convert people.
