Isaiah 64:5
Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
God meets the one who rejoices in Him and does what is right, meeting those who keep Him in mind in His ways. This meeting is joined to the promise that God has made ready for those who wait for Him what no eye has seen and no ear has heard.
The verse is a reproof to leaders in God's cause and to those connected with His institutions who have had great light. It charges them to study it and to receive its words with faith and thorough consecration, instead of taking up only what they choose. It warns that judgment will follow neglect of the duty to warn the people what is truth.
The verse speaks decisively to God's people, calling them to stop evil works, to repent, to be converted, and to undergo reformation, because their ways are not accepted by God. When it is heeded with the stopping of all complaining and every evil work, it speaks in a most decided manner. Then it gives understanding of chapters sixty and sixty-one and brings a manifestation of God's power in the conviction and conversion of souls.
