Isaiah 65:16

That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.

The promise that former troubles are forgotten and hidden from sight belongs to the prophet's description of the restored earth, not to life on the present sin-cursed earth, and concerns that future restoration. The chapter is a reproof and warning to leaders and those in high positions who carry great responsibilities, who have had great light yet have disregarded reproof. It calls them to make thorough consecration to God, to warn the people what is truth, and to stop all complaining and every evil work.

It further calls them to put away the evil of their works, to come nigh, to repent and to be converted, because their ways are not accepted of God. When its words, together with chapters 60 to 64 including chapters 62 to 64, are heeded, accepted and obeyed, chapters 62 to 65 speak in a most decided manner and the Lord manifests His power in the conviction and conversion of souls. When its words are obeyed, a reformation must go through the congregation of Israel.
