Isaiah 66:5
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
Those who tremble at God's word are those who honor it with loyalty and faithfulness, and though hated and cast out by their own religious brethren for His name's sake and for their hope in Christ's coming, they will have joy when the Lord appears, while those who cast them out will be ashamed. The brethren who hate and cast them out say, Let the Lord be glorified, claiming to honor God by the exclusion, but that exclusion falsely treats rejection as honoring Him. The verse applies to believers expelled or cut off from church fellowship for expressing, believing, speaking, confessing, proclaiming, testifying to, waiting for and looking for the Advent and the Saviour's soon coming and appearing.
In fulfillment, seven members of one family were expelled from the Methodist Church for bearing testimony to the Advent. Threats of exclusion led some to hide their faith to keep their place in the church, while others left and joined those waiting for the Saviour. Those expelled for looking for the Saviour lived in blameless conduct.
Being rejected by the church does not mean loss of God's favor and is no reason to deny faith. For those cast out, the promise is especially precious as assurance of vindication, turning sorrow into joy and bringing gladness when Christ appears.
