Isaiah 7:20

In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

The chapter that holds this verse is to be read together with Isaiah 6, Jeremiah 7, Jeremiah 8, and Isaiah 55:1-3. Taken with those chapters it stands as a warning addressed to those in spiritual danger. The warning calls for an end to backsliding and deceit, and for amendment of ways and doings in obedience to God's voice. It presses acceptance of His invitation to come, to hear, and to live.
