Isaiah 9:11

Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

The setting is a conspiracy formed against Judah, and the Lord's raising up of Rezin's adversaries and joining of his enemies belongs to that account. Those conspiracies of that time are types of conspiracies formed in the last days. The chapter speaks of the Messiah's birth as though it had already happened, using present or past language for a future event. The verse stands within a prophecy of restoration whose promised blessings were conditional on the Jewish nation believing and obeying the gospel. Because the nation did not obey, God was not bound to fulfill those promises to it.
