Isaiah 9:21
Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Isaiah 9:21 belongs to the prophecy of judgment on Israel, in which Ephraim and Manasseh, though related northern tribes, turn together against Judah. Their mutual hostility against each other is itself part of the people's continuing rebellion under God's anger. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand remains stretched out still in judgment.
This judgment is distinct from Isaiah's conditional promises of restoration and blessing. Those promises would have been fulfilled for the Jewish nation if its people and rulers had believed and obeyed the gospel. The verse belongs to the account of ancient conspiracies against Judah, and those conspiracies serve as types of conspiracies that will arise in the last days.
