Jeremiah 1:7

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

The excuse that one is a child is forbidden, whether it is framed as being too young, weak, inefficient, powerless, or unable to speak. It is God's call and not age or a felt inadequacy that determines who may speak for Him, and youth does not excuse anyone from the prophetic trust. The one called is commissioned to go to all to whom God sends him and to speak whatsoever God commands, wherever God chooses to send. Jeremiah was so chosen to stand for the right despite opposition.

The commission carries God's promise of His presence and deliverance from fear, shielding the messenger from fear of others. He enables speech by putting His own words in the mouth, opening His Word so it is not as a strange language, and giving His Spirit and power. The messenger is set apart in youth to receive God's word and to bear a clear and decided message in the name of the Lord Jesus. That messenger is to draw near to follow all the light God has given and faithfully to give all the message God has given.

The work commanded is to carry the Word with pen and voice to the erring and to unbelievers. It is to reprove actions that are not right and to exhort from the Word in warnings, reproof, and correction, in the true eloquence of simplicity as one who has never learned in the schools. There is to be no deviating from the truth under any circumstances, for it is not the messenger who speaks but the Lord who gives the messages. The speaking required is directed not only toward those who are taught but toward those who teach the Word, with the first work to be done for the shepherds of the flock, warning them not to teach their own words instead of God's words as the scribes and Pharisees did.

Ministers who feel weak, inefficient, and powerless must make God their strength, trusting He will work with them so they do not labor in vain. Their work is real and certain of success because God is with them to feed the flock with meat in due season. The same sending applies to the church's members, who are sent to proclaim God's message with His help. The messages for the last days given under this commission are to be written in books to stand immortalized, unchangeable and eternal, to testify against those who once rejoiced in the light but gave it up through seductive influences of evil.
