Jeremiah 10:21
For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
When pastors have not sought the Lord they become brutish, meaning foolish and lacking spiritual understanding. Therefore they shall not prosper, but fail in their work and become spiritually ineffective. All their flocks, the people entrusted to their care, shall be scattered rather than gathered and kept.
The verse warns religious leaders whose rejection of truth turns people away from God. Such leaders trample conviction and follow human authority rather than God. Their course brings loss and sorrow to the Lord's flock.
