Jeremiah 11:18

And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

Jeremiah 11:18 falls within chapters 2 to 11, which some regard as the writings Baruch made again after Jehoiakim burned the first scroll. It stands among plain prophecies denouncing sin, expressing sorrow of heart over the people's transgression, and making a touching appeal for return to God even though the mass of the people give no response.

It belongs to the chapter that explains the breaking off of branches from God's olive tree. God's ancient people were rejected and broken off because they violated the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt. Those who were broken off can be grafted in again under the new covenant.
