Jeremiah 11:3
And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant, And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
A curse rests upon every person who fails to obey the words of the covenant that God commanded the fathers of Israel when He brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron furnace. That covenant required them to obey His voice and to do all that He commanded, so that they would be His people and He would be their God. It was given in order that He might perform the oath He had sworn to give them a land flowing with milk and honey.
From the day of that deliverance onward God earnestly protested to them, rising early and repeatedly urging them to obey His voice. Yet they did not obey nor incline their ear, but each one walked in the imagination of his evil heart, following his own impulses. Because they did not fulfill their promise of obedience, they did not receive the blessings He wished to bestow upon them, and they disqualified themselves from being recognized as His peculiar treasure.
