Jeremiah 12:13
They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD. They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
The people addressed planted wheat yet the crop they gather is thorns. They exhaust themselves in grievous exertion, but the work produces no profit or gain. That fruitless outcome leaves them put to shame. The shame falls upon their revenues and gains, and it comes because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
