Jeremiah 12:15

And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

Jeremiah 12:15 belongs among the prophecies of Jeremiah 3 to Jeremiah 21 that sternly denounce sin, express heartfelt sorrow over transgression, and make moving appeals to return to God that the mass of the people fail to answer. After God has plucked them out, He will return to them, have compassion on them, and bring every man again to his own heritage and to his own land. Those plucked out and then restored are the nations that spoiled Israel's inheritance, whom God removes from their land before having compassion on them and restoring each person to his own land and inheritance.

In the surrounding promise, this restoration is linked to their learning God's ways and honoring His name, while those who refuse to obey will be destroyed. The restoration is an act of God's mercy, showing that birth or national origin does not outweigh character.
