Jeremiah 13:4
Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock. Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
Jeremiah 13:4 belongs to the warnings to the Jews found in Jeremiah 12 to 24. It speaks through a striking symbol and sign and figure of speech. It commands obtaining a linen girdle, wearing it for a while, and then hiding it where it would rot.
That command was a real dealing of God with His children, not fanaticism. It shows that God takes notice of the fashion and cut of dress and of what men call small things as well as great things, and He is unchanged in caring about such details. Its warning and appeal, with assurance of the heavenly Father's kindness and everlasting love, applies to the present day.
