Jeremiah Hides the Linen Girdle in a Rockby KalebRosendahl

Jeremiah 13:5

So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

The act records simple obedience: a linen girdle was to be obtained, worn for a time, then taken to the Euphrates and hidden there until it rotted. The girdle worn in Judah at that time is the same kind that may still be met with any day in the streets of Jerusalem, for fashions of dress in the East never change. Its continued presence stands as witness to the marvelous accuracy of the word.

The command shows that God notices and directs what men call small things, such as how dress is cut and made. Those who claim God is not particular about fashion would have counted Jeremiah a fanatic for carrying out such a direction. God is not changed, but still takes notice of small things as well as great ones. His people therefore should love and trust Him like little children and follow His leading.
