Jeremiah Prays During the Great Droughtby emmanuel_higgins

Jeremiah 14:2

Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.

Judah is seen mourning, its gates languishing and its people sitting in black dejection upon the ground. The blackness is mourning, and it is want and famine. As such it suits the black horse and the scarcity belonging to it.

The black horse of the third seal is mourning and a famine of the word of God with its attendant scarcity. The scant measured wheat shows how little spiritual food was to be had. Yet the Bible and the Holy Spirit were not to be permitted to die out altogether.
