Jeremiah 14:22
Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things. Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
The lifeless idols worshiped by the surrounding nations have no power to send rain, and the heavens of themselves cannot give showers. The Lord alone is God, the Maker of all these things. The only fitting response is therefore to wait upon Him.
