Jeremiah 14:6

And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.

The passage in Jeremiah 14:2-6 portrays Judah mourning under a severe drought marked by want and scarcity. The wild asses stand on the barren high places searching for grass where none is to be found. They snuff up the air and pant in the wind like dragons.

The Hebrew word transliterated roo-agh in the verse means wind. Their eyes fail and they are weakened by thirst and hunger because there is no grass. In this passage black represents want, famine, and mourning.
