Jeremiah 15:13

Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

Jeremiah 15 stands among the prophecies that denounce sin and call the people back to God, yet the people largely do not respond. The verse declares that God will hand over substance and treasures as plunder without payment, on account of all sins committed throughout all borders.

Those sins are willful idolatry, the abominations of Topheth, treachery and shamelessness, an empty form of temple worship, and Sabbath-breaking, and because of them punishment is made certain. That certain judgment is to arrive through Babylon acting as the swift avenger.

In the face of continued refusal to respond, the prophet grieves over the coming judgment with weeping and discouragement, while still interceding that God would not bring disgrace upon the throne of His glory. True Sabbath-keeping is true acknowledgment of God as Creator and Redeemer, and such faithfulness would have preserved Jerusalem forever.
