Jeremiah 15:3
And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy. The fourfold appointment is judgment pronounced for willful rebellion against God. It is judgment for idolatry, including the abominations practiced at Topheth. It is judgment for treachery and for shameless persistence in sin without repentance.
That punishment will come soon, with Babylon acting as the swift avenger to execute it. Mere outward temple worship will be of no avail to shield the ungodly from this judgment.
