Jeremiah 17:20
And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates: And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates:
The Lord commanded Jeremiah to stand at the gates of Jerusalem and proclaim His word to a threefold audience of the kings of Judah, all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem who entered in by those gates. The place of delivery was public and deliberate, set where the people passed through so that rulers and common hearers alike would receive the message. What Jeremiah was thus ordered to announce was the Sabbath command, presented together with its warning and its promise. The call to hear the word of the Lord therefore served as the introduction to that Sabbath instruction and to the consequences and blessings attached to it.
