Jeremiah 19:13
And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
The houses of Jerusalem, including the houses of the kings of Judah, were to be made defiled like the place of Tophet when judgment fell. The cause was rooftop idolatry, for upon the roofs of all those houses the people had burned incense to all the host of heaven. Upon those same roofs they had poured out drink offerings to other gods. This defilement of the houses belonged to the announced doom upon Jerusalem and Judah for refusing to hear God's words.
