Jeremiah 19:6
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter. Jeremiah delivered this announcement after taking the elders of the people with him and showing them a potter's earthen vessel, which he then broke before their eyes. The shattered vessel served as the enacted sign that introduced the spoken word of judgment. That judgment was directed against Jerusalem and Judah, declaring that the city would suffer the foretold calamity upon it. The stated cause was that its people had refused to listen to God's words.
