Jeremiah 19:8
And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof. And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
Jerusalem's hardened refusal to hear God would bring swift judgment upon the city. That judgment would make the city desolate and a hissing, so that every one passing by would be astonished at the severity of all its plagues and calamities. Like a potter's vessel once broken, the resulting ruin would be complete and could not be made whole again.
