Jeremiah 20:17
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me. Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
The Hebrew word translated grave is kever, meaning the place where a body is buried. The verse is an expression of anguish over suffering, a wish to have died from the womb rather than to have lived to endure such distress. In that wish, the mother would have become the grave, and her womb would have remained always great with the child.
