Jeremiah 20:8
For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily. For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
Jeremiah's cry of violence and spoil was the warning content of God's word given to him, a proclamation of coming violence and destruction. Because he faithfully spoke just what God had entrusted to him, that message itself was turned into a cause for reproach against him. It brought him derision and mockery daily. The same daily reproach and mockery falls on God's servants when they proclaim reproof, exposing wrongdoing and condemning principles that pervert justice.
